Our 10x10 tiles are nominally 10cm by 10cm (approx. 4"x4"), and our 5x5 tiles are 5cm by 5cm (approx. 2"x2"). As each zellige tile is handcrafted, you should expect slight variations in the exact dimensions and thickness, which is a natural part of their unique character.

The beauty of handmade zellige is found in its inherent variations. Every tile will have unique characteristics, including noticeable shifts in color tone, even within the same batch. You should also expect minor surface irregularities like pits or crazing in the glaze, along with slightly uneven edges and small chips that contribute to the authentic, final look.

Our zellige tiles are typically around 1 cm (or 3/8 inch) thick, though slight variations will occur. Because the total weight and volume of your order are essential for logistics planning, we provide these precise details as part of the custom shipping quote we prepare for every order.

Our zellige is eco-friendly because it relies on centuries-old, sustainable methods. We use natural Moroccan clay and lead-free glazes, and our artisans shape each tile by hand. The production process uses minimal energy, relying on sun-drying and traditional kilns fueled by biomass. This artisanal approach avoids industrial waste and ensures a low environmental impact.

We have a rigorous quality control process designed for large import orders. While natural variation is a key feature of zellige, every tile is inspected for structural integrity. For large projects, we produce the entire order as a single batch to ensure the color tones are as consistent as possible within the beautiful, expected range of handmade tiles.

Production lead times vary depending on the size and complexity of your order. Once your design is approved, we will provide a specific production timeline. As our entire process is manual and artisanal, we always recommend that our import partners plan their projects well in advance to accommodate this handcrafted schedule.

We take great care in packaging our tiles for international freight to ensure they arrive safely. The tiles are first packed into smaller, manageable boxes. These boxes are then securely stacked and braced onto wooden pallets or enclosed in crates to prevent movement and minimize the risk of breakage during their journey from Morocco.

As the importer, you are fully responsible for the customs process in the United States. While we manage the shipping of your order from Morocco to your designated port or address, you act as the importer of record. This means you are responsible for handling all customs clearance procedures and paying any import duties, taxes, or fees required upon arrival.
