The Art of Subtraction: Authentic Chiseled Clay

Introducing the Granada Black Night, a masterpiece of the "Nqach" (chiseled) technique. Unlike standard Zellige where pieces are cut from the clay, these tiles are created by subtraction.

Our master artisans in Tétouan start with a fully glazed, Khol Black tile. Using a small, sharp hammer-chisel, they carefully chip away the enamel by hand to reveal the raw, warm terracotta underneath. This painstaking process creates the geometric "Granada" pattern, where the contrast between the glossy black glaze and the matte, earthen clay creates a stunning, tactile vibration.
